Early life


Marco polo was a Venetian merchant traveler from the Venetian Republic and he was born Nobel family in 1254, in Venice, Italy whose travels are recorded in Il Milione, a book which describes his travels and also influenced later adventurers and merchants, moreover, it introduced Europeans to Central Asia and China. He learned about trading whilst his father and uncle. Travelled through Asia and apparently met Kublai Khan, meanwhile, Marco Polo's mother died, and he was raised by an aunt and uncle. Polo was well educated, and learned merchant subjects including foreign currency, appraising, and the handling of cargo ships,[9] although he learned little or no Latin In 1269, they returned to Venice to meet Marco for the first time. The three of them embarked on an epic journey to Asia, returning after 24 years to find Venice at war with Genoa; Marco was imprisoned, and dictated his stories to a cellmate. He was released in 1299, became a wealthy merchant, married and had three daughters.
